Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be released on April, two years after it was originally scheduled to be released. The long-awaited title from TT Games adapts all nine films in the Skywalker Saga, and you may pick which trilogy to begin with (so you might want to get the prequels out of the way first).
The Skywalker Saga will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It's billed as the biggest Lego game to date, and publisher Warner Bros. Games offered a gameplay clip to give fans a sneak peek at what's in store.
New fighting elements include the ability to chain attacks and protect oneself with counter maneuvers "in styles personalized to your favorite characters." Expect new blaster mechanics, including a cover system and an over-the-shoulder perspective with a third-person targeting reticle. Of course, there will be plenty of lightsaber combat, space dogfights, and opportunities to deploy Force powers.
Many levels will have various pathways to explore, as well as side quests to complete. There are over 300 playable characters to unlock, and class-based powers can be upgraded. There's also a Mumble Mode, which, like previous games in the series, replaces comprehensible spoken lines with muttering.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga appears to be a massive game based on the gameplay footage alone. According to Polygon, despite the extended delays, the production crew was still expected to work long hours (or "crunch").
TT Games has had a "difficult work culture" for the last decade and a half, according to several current and former employees, and work weeks of 80 to 100 hours were not uncommon during crunch periods (though overtime is said to have been limited in recent months). Since the commencement of production on Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga roughly five years ago, TT Games has apparently had a high amount of worker turnover.
